On 7 December I applied online to renew my old passport.
8 December I posted my old passport to the Passport Office.
9 December they received it.

As I was saying.....
14 December , they approved it.
15 December they printed the passport.
15 December I received it.

Is that you emigrating, Atheist?

Not emigrating, DTC. I just need to get to my French rural estate in time for the "potager digging and sowing ceremony" and the "tapping of the first spring barrel" ceremony, followed by the tasting and sharing of same amongst the villagers, and the selection of virgins for the "Autumn Trample".
Then of course I run out of permitted days and have to return to Slough for some real summer fun, before going back to France, gawd willin!

I was very lucky.
I always managed to slip through the tightening mesh of travel restrictions under covid; the rules were in a state of fluctuation and once, when a planned and paid for Covid test was suddenly withdrawn as being unavailable the day before travel, the French changed their requirements in our favour.
It's good to see that the country has not yet collapsed. I think the Pub Sec don't want to see that and are doing all they can to keep things running without being branded as mugs and losers by our snsitive politicos.
Not from what my sis is saying from Provence - strikes everywhere.....
