I love big dogs but that is a really really big dog. It would be like living with a pony. Imagine trying to hide food from him.

I read at the bottom of the article that he has died - that is the downside of very large hounds, they have relatively short lives.

This is a very old photo of my first dog when he was just a puppy - in 1980. https://postimg.cc/hz6N5t5N

My JRs would take him on!
That's clearly a horse.
The article is a bit odd since it is dated February this year but right at the end, it states the dog had died in January last year.
TTT - my dog (GSD/Bull Mastiff) had a bite wound on his nose from a JR. He was terrified of them and would start crying when he saw one.
They are the dog world's angry short bloke!
I read about him a few years ago. I wonder how old he lived to. A fellow dog walker I used to know had one...I think he was only about 9 or 10 when he died. Lovely dopey dog.
I seen a Great Dane stepping out the back of a people carrier once and as it got out, it looked the size of a pony.

The way it had been in the car, it was able to put out its front legs one at a time to get out but the head and body hardly dropped as it did so, it looked very odd at the time.

Lovely dog. Friends of ours have a huge Great Dane, He's the laziest dog imaginable - and the most docile.

Well you wouldn't put it on the top shelf
I saw my first great Dane when I was in grade school. The school had a very large playing field and one day we saw this huge black creature trotting across it...we all thought it was a pony.
Eight is a good age for a Dane, they often don't live much past six.
