Runnymead
It's spelt Runnymede and it's between Windsor, Egham and Staines. I think there is even a place there called Magna Carta Island, but that could be made up.
Ha! Two different spellings on that page as well!
Click here for a history website which queries whether King John did sign it and even whether he could actually write! Certainly he 'sealed' it, but did he 'sign' it?
King John had Magna Carta annulled by the Pope so it wasn't worth the animal skin it was written on, all within months of that celebrated day in June 1215. If any later monarchs had trouble with their subjects they'd just bang out a copy of Magna Carter to shut them all up. Later copies exist from the time of Henry III and Edward I. Also the importance of the document was exaggerated by Parliament in the Civil War. Magna Carta is also championed by the Americans who's Bar Association paid for the landscaped gardens and obelisk in the 1950's. Its proximity to the JFK memorial means it's a popular stopping off point for Yanks on their way to Windsor Castle.

Zacmaster,
Maybe it's because other people read this site to glean information and as a result it isn't just the one to one dialogue you seem to wish it to be.
I Agree zacmaster.
and I agree henneth. Let information blossom.
I see nothing wrong with answering questions and questioning answers within a thread. A big bugbear of mine is when people come into a thread and gripe about it without adding anything.

And that said, I hereby include a picture of the seal, as mentioned by QM above.

definitely not the seal of good housekeeping, judging by that unmown grass....oops, am I digressing?
..... King John's Seal used on the Magna Carta really does still exist ....
Henneth is right this is a site for coversation and expansion.

Whats to say that just because an answer is comprehensive its right?
Or conversely, that just because it's right it's comprehensive? Personally I like to read the amendments and additions; on numerous occasions I've picked up little bits of knowledge that I didn't have before. Keep on expanding!
