Tweaking Google Search Engine
11 Answers
Is there any way you can Tweak Google search to bring up UK results only. Even when I type UK before the search, I'm getting results from India and such places. I've been looking for a new ceramic hob and am getting suggestions from all over the world. Thanks.

Search using google.co.uk with region set to United Kingdom and use the country filter to limit results to the UK. Try using this link as your homepage URL for UK results https:// www. google. co. uk/ webhp? tbs= ctr: countryUK| countryGB& cr= countryUK| countryGB

You can create your own dedicated version(s) of the Google search engine.
Start by logging into your Google account.
Then go here:
https:/ /progra mmables earchen gine.go ogle.co m/contr olpanel /create
Enter a name of your choice for your personalised search engine (e.g. 'UK-Search')
Select 'Search the entire web'. (Yes, I know that's not what you're wanting to do but the customisation is yet to come. See below).
Tick 'I'm not a robot'.
Click 'Create'.
Click 'Preview' to open your new search engine in a new tab. It won't work properly yet, as you've not customised it. However you can then BOOKMARK THE PAGE, so that you can access it at any time in the future.
Go back to the previous tab and click 'Customise'.
Change 'All regions' to 'United Kingdom'.
Change 'All languages' to 'English'.
Your bookmarked page will then provide you with a 'UK only' search engine for you to use at any time.

Thank you for all the replies and I've decided to go with chelle7272's suggestion as it was the easiest. Microsoft Edge does not like Google and for the life of me I could not find how to change my home page to Google. I think it must be blocked. I changed my laptop recently and got Windows 11 and there are all sorts of things I must get used to. so the easiest solution was to go onto the link Chelle provided and put it on my favourites bar.
I will have a go at other options when I get more time. Apparently, my son, doing a computer science degree including Quantum computing, 'knows nothing' about Google or Edge. The fact he was going out drinking with his mates last night may have wiped his memory and once rebooted he may be able to help me out. many thanks!

>>> . . . for the life of me I could not find how to change my home page to Google
Copy this link to your clipboard:
https:/ /www.go ogle.co .uk
Click the cogwheel. (Bottom right).
In the left-hand pane, select 'Start, home a new tabs'.
In the right-hand pane, right-click in the blank field under 'Home button' and select 'Paste'. Click 'Save' next to it.
If you want Edge to open with Google already showing, under 'When Microsoft Edge starts', click 'Add a new page' and paste the Google URL into the box that opens. Then click 'Add'.
Why anyone would actually want to use Edge anyway is beyond me though!

Hi, Meaghan. (Merry Christmas!).
I just don't find Edge anywhere near as intuitive or customisable as Slimjet is. (Slimjet is like an improved version of Chrome. See my post at 2053 here for further info: https:/ /www.th eanswer bank.co .uk/Tec hnology /Questi on18201 58.html )
