Sick Note Dates

I know the doctors wont be open boxing day but my brother is a bit confused as to when he should be asking them for his next sick note, on previous one it says its from 18th December to the 25th December for 8 days and also im sure they can be backdated if he doesnt request one until the 26th so help please.

Unless he needs to be seen, a phone call requesting a continuance should be fine

The fit note usually shows the start date as being the date of examination but it can be earlier if need be so I'd not be overly concerned about it.

He does it by e-consultation and is confused as it says its for 8 days from 18th dec to 25th dec so really needs to request one on 26th dec which is boxing day and they are closed so we would presume he still needs to request it on 26th and they wont see it until open 27th. He thinks it will automatically be back dated to the 26th though. Hopefully all will be ok for him

When he does the eConsult, just state the date he wants it to run from and to. He can also ring his GP surgery, provided it is an ongoing condition he won't need a GP appointment, the request should go on to the Tasks list.
