Changing Bathroom light
7 Answers
I wish to change the light fixture from a normal bulb to a halogen fixture. I have two cables coming into the ceiling rose. The rose has a separate earth fterminal, two black wires (neutral?) go to one terminal; one black wire with a red sleeve (live?) to another and then three red wires go to a third terminal.
The new fixture only has three terminals ie. live, neutral and earth. Is this new light not suitable for the existing wiring? Any advice on how not to blow myself up would be gratefully received.

All you have to do is rewire the existing wire configeraton into a suitable JB leavin the harmonized twin & earth hanging down to install your new fitting to. And make sure that the new lamp is IP rated or correctly zoned to the appropriate location to where it will be sited. If you dont understand any of the above then you shouldnt be attempting the job and get a pro to do it. Even if you do manage to get it to work how do you know it is safe and done correctly. After all its not as if you could start an electrical house fire or electricute yourself ...IS IT !!!
