dumped car

A bashed-up German car has been parked selfishly, but not illegally outside our house, and has not moved for nearly 2 months. The police say there's nothing they can do, but I would like to contact the owner to ask if it could be moved so it doesn't take up 2 precious spaces. How do I track down the owner of a German car. It probably belongs to a student, who is not allowed to use it in term-time. If so, maybe the parents could provide an address over here. Liz Budd

You say it belongs to a student, if you have an idea of which college it is, you could try the college. However, I still think reporting it to the Council as abandoned is the simplest option for you because once the owner/keeper sees the notice on the car saying that if it is not claimed, it will be removed, they will probably hurry up and move it - and if they don't, the Council will. Either way you get what you want.
