On 4Th Of June I'll Be Turning 22 And I Feel Old. I Feel Time Is Flying By So Fast.

I'm not here to brag about my abilities, but I just want to explain my situation. My primary school went pretty well. I didn't know any better. I studied and got great marks. That was my only duty. I did write children's books casually and won the school's writing competitions. Being bullied when I was in middle school, I became unproductive and depressed. I struggled to pass the exams and spent most of my time daydreaming. My only passion was learning different languages. I speak 5 languages now. I began learning how to paint and draw when I was about 14. My parents sent me to a very disciplined high school which demanded me to study day and night. Before that, time went on so slowly I felt I owned all the time in the world, but as soon as I entered high school I felt like those three years passed like 24 hours even though they were the hardest years of my life. I didn't like studying, but had to compete with my classmates. My parents didn't allow me to read novels, write or paint, so I did all these out of their sight and prayed to enter the university as soon as possible so that I could become an actress. I wanted to become an actress since I was 13, but my parents didn't let me pursue my dreams. When I was 18, they forced me to study fisheries science. I'm a vegetarian and I hate this field. I was happy I could live away from my parents. I tried multiple jobs but never really managed to become financially independent. When I turned 19, I attended acting classes and got perfect marks in the conservatoire, but did so poorly at the university my professors kept humiliating me. When I was 20, I self-published my first novel and sold a few copies and got a positive review from one of my readers. I got a level 4 certification from Oxford university in Philosophy in literature, while attending online courses related to literature and drama. Once I turned 21, I played as an extra in 2 films, played a bit-role in a stage performance and played a supporting role in a short film. I even managed to earn some money by selling my artworks and I once succeeded in exhibiting my artworks. Anyways, I said all these to tell you that despite all the things I've done, I feel unproductive and idle. I feel that I'm turning 22 without having achieved a big thing in my life. I want to become a successful actress, but I doubt if what I've done so far will even count as acting experience. I see many successful teenagers on the internet and feel like I've wasted my time.

Don't let social media spoil your life. You have an amazing future in front of you. Be your own person. Don't try to emulate others.

There's vacancies all over the country for trainee bus drivers. It's a useful job and you'd be providing a far greater benefit to a greater number of people than you will fannying about with philosophy and literature - and you'll probably earn more money.

Most people, go through their lives without achieving "a big thing." But many manage to lead productive, useful and rewarding lives nonetheless.

i was your age 49 years ago , and it seems to me you are very talented so keep at it , you're still very young and could achieve a lot in your life ,, good luck to you

My dream was to be a talented musician but of course would never have been allowed that opportunity as I was deaf but I know myself that because of the interest I had I would have been successful.

You are very very young and have a life time to be anything you want to be. Don't be negative and certainly don't think you have wasted any time.

You have plenty of time- find a stage school, and continue with the art. They are insanely competitive, as you know... so keep open-minded for earning money, but continue with what you enjoy.

Please don't follow 'successful' teenagers on social media, they are very few among many others just like you. There is nothing wrong with wanting/hoping for a career in some form of the arts but sadly, once again, chances are few and far between. Look for a way of making money you will enjoy and pursue your dreams as a sideline to begin with. I think there may be agencies that take on folk for extras work but they will take a cut or charge to have you on their books. Could you afford to try a stage school? You could join an amateur dramatic society which would get you experience of all aspects of theatre work and be great fun. I belonged to one, strictly backstage, and had a wonderful time. 22 is really only the beginning of your life, particularly now when it's possible to change careers and retrain a lot later in life.
