Trojan horse
20 Answers
My PC was infected by a trojan horse and something called Security Shield kept popping up on my screen telling me that I had to pay $79.99 to get rid of it. Good job I didn't agree to it as my brother, who came round earlier, said that this security shield was the trojan horse itself and if I had paid with my credit card and loaded it up I would have become a victim of fraud and my PC may have died!
I hadn't been able get online since last night as this virus thing wouldn't let me access the internet. Virgin Media Security doesn't seem to be doing its job properly so my brother has added microsoft security essentials which appears to have got rid of this virus. Is there anything else I need for added protection?

i had the same problem couple of days ago. i couldnt get rid of that security shield, then i uninstalled my curent microsoft windows security and downloaded avg security, 1 month trial free by the way :)) it has more features than the basic free avg security.
then scanned whole computer and succesfully removed 5 trojan horses. it took me 3 hours to get rid of them but after my internet works fine.
maybe you could also download avg security, good luck.

I've used AVG and Avast before but I thought that as I have Virgin Boradband I'll use their security program as well. Looks like I'll have to got back to one of the ones I was using before. I think I got rid of AVG after a year when they wanted me to pay after that.
Looks like there is a pattern emerging here. I'm sure I must have acquired the trojan after clicking on a link on a post on AB.

Whatever you do, avoid having more than one Virus Protection Programme installed in your computer....They'll conflict with each other and cause problems. I am not a techie, so read what our AB experts have said.:-
