on Planet Rock (DAB / Internet station) they're playing an interview with selecting music choices him at 6pm tonight and then on Sunday there's a one hour special on him at 8pm.

I got fairly proficient again in lockdown but only so far as bashing out a few covers. I was working on Romeo & Juliet (Dire Straits) and Dust in the Wind (Kansas) but it was a sloooooow process.

I used to play guitar back in the 60s and 70s.
Fender Strat and a big stack of Marshall cabinets. I remember going to see Jeff Beck first of his own bands:

Beck: guitar
Ronnie Wood (The Stones): Bass
Mickey Waller: Drums
Rod Stewart: Vocals (before he became well known.)

I remember my Uncle went to a pub in Watford in early 70s, and Elton John was playing piano. He had a word with him after. This is before he was mega famous.

A week before Christmas, i happened to mention to my eldest daughter that i had attempted to learn the guitar back in my teens but i didn't have the patience. We then went on to discus the fact i needed a hobby now that i am retired.
Come the big day and there was a triangular shaped parcel with my name on it, beneath her tree. Yep, an acoustic guitar. I now feel obliged to learn to play it but am having some difficulty muting one or two strings when attempting chords. So much so that i have been learning the 'hooks' to about a dozen songs; Another One Bites The Dust, Sunshine Of My Love, Day Tripper, and, of course, Smoke On The Water.
I know this is primarily about Jeff Beck, but i came across this video today and what a line up of guitarists (and other musicians);

There’s a great app called Guitar Tabs, Ken. Despite its name it has just the chords as well. Great for getting to grips with a few old (and new) tunes.

It's all a matter of taste, Baz. I really admired Jeff Beck but my guitar hero was Gary Moore - Hendrix died just when i was getting 'into' him.
