What does John Reid have that Gordon Brown does not ? if you had a choice who would you prefer as next Labour leader assuming Tony will ever go.?

John Reid comes over as a nasty bullyish individual, and something of a hypocrite. When he was Health Secretary, he never appeared to dispute the use of his degree title 'Doctor Reid' which inferred to the casual listener that he has a medical degree, similar to Liam Fox. In fact his degree was awarded in history, and he has a PhD for a thesis on the eccomonics of an African country - quite a long way from an assumed empathy with medical practicioners, although as son as he left the Department of Health, he dropped the 'Doctor', or again, did not insist on its appendage by the media.

I'm with andy here: Reid seems to be a bully who plays up to the tabloid agenda. Tabloid readers may think this is a wonderful thing, of course; but at least Brown seems to have a mind of his own.

As much as I dislike the woman, I think it is time now that the Labour Party had a woman P.M. and I think that there is only one that qualifies and that is Margaret Beckett. After all she did take the reigns of leader of the party when John Smith died in 1994.

I beleive Gordon Brown deserves the top job after all his hard work, getting this country back on its feet after 18 years of torry rule. John Reid does come across as tough and arrogant at times but this is probably due to the condecending comments from Eton school boy torries.
