What Were These Fans Thinking?
I think it was wrong that the World Cup is being held in Qatar and every country taking part should be allowed to display their national flag inside the stadium but dressing up as Crusaders in a Muslim country has left me flabbergasted. Yes, St George is England's patron saint even though he wasn't English and never set foot in England but anyone who has a smidgen of understanding about the Crusades would realise that this costume is not appropriate at this world cup

This ridiculous restriction has now been lifted.
It strikes me more as heavy handed officialdom more than anything else. There are plenty of "Crusaders" themes, especially in sport (and indeed Saracens) and I am pretty sure there is next to no offence caused by any of it. Qatar is not exactly Iran, either.
