How Many Jobs Will Be Lost To 'technology'?

There was a newspaper piece a few days ago headed 'Robots will take 15,000 jobs a year' or something similar. It started me thinking, just how many manual jobs will be left in 25 or 50 years and how will we cope?
Some thoughts so far
Driverless trains > Technology already exists
Driverless cars/taxis > Technology rapidly being developed
Accountants > Estimates are that over 90% of accountancy jobs can be computerised
Shop Workers > Online ordering getting a higher % every year
Farm Workers > just seen on TV program that a picker, sorter, cleaner and integrated packing system can replace almost all veg and fruit picking / packing jobs. Also a weed detector/remover that replaces a 30 strong weeding gang is now on sale.
Aircraft > pilots replaced by computer control. This already exists but again union pressure prevents introduction. Remember 80% of all aircraft accidents are due to 'pilot error' computers will not make such errors (same for cars)
How many more ?

What can the autopilot do?

ALL passenger vaircraft now have 'Autoland' which can land the aircraft safely in conditions where there is no visiblity . Autoland is used for almost all flights now as it is a lot safer than a human pilot.
There has been a huge leap forward in the use of autopilot and autoland since the 'German Wings' crash where the pilot committed suicide by flying the plane into the ground !

If all aircraft systems go down on a current aircraft you've probably had your chips. Click were showing the development of a totally computer controlled aircraft.

Auto land (Cat 3 landing) works in fog if the destination airport is configured for a Cat 3 landing. Not all airports are. There is no need for it when visabiltity is Ok althought pilots have to perform one cat 3 landing every 6 months so as to keep their hand in whether they need to do it or not. Cat 3 landings are about the exent of automatic flying (apart from in the cruise)

Yes once the system is tested and working.
Remember 90 % of all aircraft accidents are due to pilot error! Pilotless planes will not make errors. Nor will they commit suicide by flying the plane full of passengers straight into the ground as in the German Wings crash !!
The same argument applies to driverless cars and I think most of us now accept that they are coming.

You're a braver man than me Gungadin! I work in IT and I would not trust it to cope, what if you took off and then when it reaches the target airport there is a massive storm or something and violent cross winds? Software can only handle pre programmed events and any programmer will tell you that you cannot pre program for every eventuality.

Autoland can land the aircraft in conditions where the human pilot can't do it due to poor visibility so it is actually better than a human pilot.
If the weather is as bad as you say in your last answer the aircraft has to fly on to an airport where landing is possible. That will not change.
