I genuinely believe that if the ref didn't step in, the winner would carry on and beat their opponent to death. I can't understand why some winners are not DQ'd, because they carry on punching their opponent when the ref has called a halt to the fight. It should be banned in my opinion, along with boxing.
There are plenty of hippocrites around. There seems to be a lot of concern about head injuries, but none at all as far as MMA and boxing are concerned. They should be banned.

Truth is many sports carry huge risks to competitors, especially where speed of impact type contact is involved, Governing bodies have rules and procedures in place to protect participants to some extinct but with no risk there is less adrenaline, less excitement. We want people to be at the limits of competition but that's the pivot point with danger on the counterbalance side.
