I hear that Spielberg may go for a live action version of Tintin. The casting names in the frame that I heard were Jamie Bell and Rupert Grint. Would I be right in thinking there was no indication in the books that he was a minor? We never saw his parents. He had a job. He often flew abroad alone. I always asssumed he was an adult.
If memory serves, he was a "boy reporter". Still, could be worse casting - apparently Jean-Claude Van Damme was campaigning to play Tintin at one stage. Mind you - aren't thay both Belgian and gay icons?
There was a previous attempt at filming a live action Tintin called " Tintin and the Blue Oranges ("http://www.angelfire.com/film/splodge/vault2/5aug02tintin.ht ml" ) which features a reasonable lookalike. As I remember it was a bit ropey especially Captain Haddock with a very obvious Glue-On Beard!!-- As far as age goes it was always a little elastic. He must have had a very understanding editor as he rarely files any copy in the books! The most radical indication of maturity was a late change from Plus-Fours to Cords in later Albums.--
