Bobbi, oh yeah I had a problem, a serious one. Full-blown alcoholic. My OH is a recovering alcoholic too, so we helped each other out. I was putting away a 70cl bottle of vodka and up to 6 litres of 7.5% cider away every day. It's one of the reasons why I'm diabetic and will be on strong pain medication for the rest of my life. I don't mind you asking about it, or being...

In the late 80s after a party where punch was the drink of the night. It went down so easily that I didn’t realise just how much alcohol was in it. I was extremely ill the next day and learned a valuable lesson not to drink alcohol that tasted like fruit juice.
It would be so long ago I wouldn't remember were it not for one night in 2019.
We made some new friends in Ireland. One makes the most fantastic wine.
I seem to have taken part in an initiation ceremony without knowing.
Nobody mentioned how strong some of his wine is. Seems this happens to everyone on their first visit to sample the wine.
I won't say what happened to another friend who experienced the same but needless to say we both stick at one glass now and nobody ever asks me to sing again. :-)
C'mon Gness, what happened to your friend?
Hmmm.....maybe later, Hoppy. ;-)
Up here in Scotland alcohol is a way of life, and death unfortunately.A lot of people up here would drastically cut back on their eating before they cut back on their drinking.
It was a beer festival..... Dave dared me to start at the strongest and work down.... The strongest was 10% ... At a half of each I got down to 7.2% not sure how many halves that was....it was a lot I remember the last one St Austell big job as it was so nice I went back twice. I had already done that with Oakham Attila 8.4% Somehow I got home, didn't wake up until 3 pm the next day.
I know I did well because one of the organisers shook my hand next time I was in one of our favourite bars.
Nearly 40 years ago. I used to drink cider, we moved to a different pub and the only cider they sold was the still stuff so I had lager instead. Nobody thought to tell me you shouldn't mix the two! I got my own back on my husband though, everytime I had to get up in the night I trampled on him
When at college my mate brought a flagon of genuine Somerset scrumpy back. We sat around drinking it, and I complained I couldn't feel the effect. I then stood up and my legs didn't work.
The dreaded Scrumpy - the only tme I was really drunk and was told I had been speaking fluent French!! Odd!
