My doorbell plays a tune so only needs to be pressed once, but the couriers just keep pressing it and pressing it. They also knock on the door and rat a tat on my knocker. Sometimes they drop the parcel on the mat and head back to the van so I call them back and ask them to pick it up and hand it to me. Bet they are cursing me under their breath.

I live in a hi rise block, I have on few occasions watched the van pull up, the driver lean out the window, take a photo, and drive away. I then get a we were unable make your delivery message. Phone depot to be told the driver said he came to the door button no reply. The last time it happened I filmed it. Amazon were very apologetic had the item plus a refund by 10 am the next day. One of the delivery men told me they have a couple of drivers who will not do lifts and claim it takes to long to use the stairs.

The thing is that companies l;ike Amazon have them on a brutal schedule and difficult deliveries ruin that so they often do as described by Rowan, especially Hi rises. I have a big sign saying where to put packages and most do these days. It's been a lot better since they don't need an actual signature, they can just sump it and take a picture which I think is better though that might change in some areas where there are a lot of tea leaves.

My gripe is Hermes/ Evri drivers who post a photo on the item tracking page...its not me and not my flat. Last time I knocked on 8-10 doors as even the GPS address given was not the one the parcel was actually delivered to!

I see numerous posts on our village Facebook page with people saying "Is this your door cos it's my parcel?" and attach the screenshot!

I don't envy them. I would hate their job. To be fair we have had very few problems. But recently one parcel was left on the outside of our field gates on our road which doesn't even have pavements. The delivery email showed the drivers note with the words. Delivered to the customer by hand!

Why on earth would you humiliate somebody by doing that?

Most deliver companies offer you the choice to register where your goods can be left safely. We then just get a knock which tells us the delivery has taken place. Fortunately we often get the same delivery driver time after time because of being so rural.

I get parcels regularly for the next street, same house number! I take them round, nice lady with a really yappy dog!

A simple 'cheers buddy' as they sprint back to their van will go so much further in future than expecting white glove delivery when the customer eventually gets to the door.

One might prepare oneself for extremely wet parcels in future having wound up the driver for no reason.

Dont blame the poor drivers,Baz(and a lot of them are on minimum wage),blame the venal companies that employ them to be insulted by the likes of err...

...and remember, they are people trying to make a decent wage in difficult situations.
