23 Answers
Hi, i live in a 1 bedroom council flat and work full time so i pay full rent. I am looking to exchange but was wondering, do i have to stick to exchanging to another 1 bedroom flat because i live alone or would i be able to swap with someone for a 2 bedroom flat if i pay the extra bedroom tax? Thanks

The property must not be too large for the incoming tenants (by not more than one spare bedroom)
The property must not be too small for the incoming tenants.
So they will not allow a single person to swap to a three bed home. It most certainly is not a private matter between tenants.

^^ Ok but in the original question adviceplease24 wanted to swap a 1 bed for a 2 bed which is allowed. I already said a single person could not swap for a 3 or 4 bed room place.
My daughter has 1 child full time and another child on 50/50 residency so she can now swap up to the 3 bedroom place she has been offered.

I'm living in a two bedroom flat and it's awesome , I have more room for storage and I have a gamers / movie room as I have a projector and large white wall . I pay the extra tax for the second room as I got it because I had to get out of my last flat because of abuse anti - social neighbours were making my life hell . I am comfortable here with two bedrooms and so there's absolutely no way on this earth am I giving this up for a smaller place .
