Depends on the value of the car, the terms of the warranty, who is issuing it and who is backing it.
I took one out for a Citroen Xantia years ago because of the expense of suspension repairs among other things.
I definitely go my moneys worth.

I doubt the car industry would be in business very long if so. :>))
Generally, no they hardly ever pay out, almost nothing is covered.
Original warranty with a new car should be honoured.

After sale ones taken out I would have my doubts about.
