Possible Sms Scam?

I had a phone call just after 7 am, telling me there was a message from the sms delivery service, press 1 to hear message. At that time in the morning you do worry if there's a family emergency, don't you? Anyway, pressing 1 did nothing, so perhaps foolishly I rang 1471. Got the number 03333 440000, which looked a bit odd. Decided to ring it anyway about 5 minutes later; something called aql.com, 'contact service provider for further information'. Does anyone know anything about this? Am wondering if it's one of those calls where I'll be charged an astronomical amount for being gullible.

was this on your home phone then?
I would just ignore it if there was no message. One company always tries to leave a text/SMS message on my home phone number when a parcel is being delivered
That number gets both negative and positive reviews Tearing. Have you got a parcel delivery due? Some delivery companies use that number.
yes I think it is

Thank you. Yes, it was on my landline. And yes, we are expecting a delivery from Parcel force but to my daughter's address, and the message should have gone to her mobile number. I await developments!

Parcel Force do indeed use that facility. God knows why though.
Yes, I agree with Togo. I'm not sure where they got the home number from and why they keep using it to send texts to when I'm sure we only give our mobile number with orders. I don't bother listening to them as they can last a minute and are difficult to decipher
sounds like a big ol scam.
never ring random numbers that you get texted from random numbers :D
Thanks Tuvok. That will not stop texts of course- it's just a curfew service which saves them up for certain hours of the day as set by the user, but some may like that option

Thank you to everyone. The expected delivery has been made to the correct address, so I'm almost certain that the sms call was from parcelForce, though they did use the wrong number. I've made a note of the 'who called' website, and will use it in future.
