Book title

I read a book written by a sixteen year old about 25 or more years ago. It was set in Ulster in the 11th century and the main character was Luke the Harper. I stupidly lent it to someone. I cannot remember the title or the author. She was an excellent writer and I feel her name was something to do with seagulls. Can anyone help?

Not really, I have tried to find an Author whose name rang a bell, but to no avail. It is probably her only book, and that has gone where ever only books go to die. Shame she was really good and I looked forward to more of her work.
