A good beginner's puzzle.

Thanks, Hedge-sparrow.

@emcee - you are rather damning with faint praise.

The only thing missing from a classic listener was that there was no 32 down moment this week.
We suspect that most beginners would find double clues rather daunting.
Enchanting, I agree.

I used double clues in my first Listener (and it also, oddly, had 29 highlighted cells in a loop), but I made that one over-complicated, and as a result people found it quite difficult. This one shows how it can be possible to make that clue gimmick accessible. The endgame was also a pleasant surprise. I'm a big fan of Hedge-sparrow's puzzles.

Thank you!
Very nice puzzle, just wonder if the second clue at 23,32 should be labelled as two words ?
upsetter, I didn't think it was THAT good -- it was "OK" for me, but nothing more.

If I thought every puzzle was superb there wouldn't be much point in posting.
Three years ago when I started I would have found this daunting. Today I found completing the grid quite tough but my main worry (as always) was the endgame, so pleasantly surprised that it fell into place fairly easily.

Thanks Hedge-sparrow
Probably made more straightforward by my recognising the theme after about three clues. But none the worse for that
Can commend the thematic work if anyone is unfamiliar with it. Haunting
Well that was fun - a favourite setter of mine and a typically elegant and satisfying puzzle.

Lovely thematic work too.

Many thanks, Hedge-sparrow
A delightful puzzle with very good paired clues, with smooth surfaces that disguised the seams well. At the same time they were not hard to prise apart, so I agree that it's a good puzzle to introduce newcomers to the gimmick.
Re comment by logophile, the answer to the second clue of 23,32 is one word in Chambers.
