Comprehensive Insurance Increase

Increased last year by 40% This year quoted another 40% increase. Same car, same detail. Why? Company Direct Line.

No idea, I've been insured with Direct Line for years and the last three years the premiums have dropped.
I've quite missed the annual haggle

Before contacting a broker use a comparison site and if you see a cheaper deal, contact direct line and haggle. I've always been successful haggling with them .

Post Office Insurance might be worth a try too. On several occasions I've spent hours trying to find a better renewal price than the one that I've been offered by them but I always end up finding that they've given me the cheapest price to start with.

I wouldn't haggle, I would leave and take my custom elsewhere. Those increases are an insult.

I use Compare the Market and enjoy year long 2for1 cinema tickets and good meal deals.

We usually end up alternating between Saga and the AA to and fro each year.

Companies often do this to loose some business in a particular area. Its the 'dont want all eggs in one basket'. Sometimes it is because they simply dont want the business anymore (My insurance company stopped doing motorcycle insurance for instance), we also had problems with our XR3i years ago. Many wouldnt insure it at all but we found one (very well known company) that would. My BMW is similar, I have to find a company sympathetic to BMW's.
