As analogy, I can watch Only Foools and Horses and David Jason 'becomes' Del Boy for me. I can watch A Touch of Frost straight afterward and then David Jason 'is' DI Frost. If the next programme is The Darling Buds of May, I will then see Pop Larkin on my screen, rather than David Jason.
However it doesn't matter whether I'm watching Zulu, The Italian Job, Alfie, Funeral in Berlin or any other Michael Caine movie, all I ever see is Michael Caine on the screen, rather than the character that he's meant to be playing.
This might be of interest to his fans though:

Michael Caine as Alfie or Harry Palmer on Zulu
erm, no it worked for me ( he was Bromfield innit).
Remember Zoolie wasnt history - I note Caine has been back-tracking on god-knows-what - whether it is history ( no) or colonial history ( no again) or drama ( yes).
In reality ( or History) Chelmsford who survived the massacre at isandlwana hared ( like a jet-powered bunny rabbit) back to London and Queen Vic. And he cleared His Story with the Queen - who er swallowed it whole.
um yeah
DOI - it was my family that stabled the horses on their farm the night before Isandlwana 1879 - they must have given Chelmzy his last tucker then....( too much detail)

"...unlikely pal Denise Welch..." say that again.
What a typical opportunity for the DM to post photos of those for whom they have no names. Mind you, I think I recognise 4th Baronet John Standing ;)
I like MC though.
