Shortly before the end a guy on a motorbike shoots a chap outside his flat, why was that and what was the significance? Didn't seem to fit at all.

I can't buy into a 'Jack The Lad' in screen, when in reality he is a cold-hearted psychopath who stabbed a man to death in a road rage incident.

The series has gone down quite well.
I have written before ( but I dont suppose it was understood) that Gold was a drama and the reality might be different.
( so that In Jude the Obscure, the children arent really hanged ( "done because we are too menny" and in Tess, Tess doesnt really walk to her father in law to ask his advice in Emminster, altho her journey is obvious, Emminster is beaminster and rhymes, and the vicarage is still there with its orchard. I knew one of the extended Noye family relations. He was NOT a jack-the-lad , with a ready smile and aw-shucks manner. He was much more like one of the thugs in Footsoldier ( only 50-ish and stupider) and given to theats and violence.
oh er why was the fellow shot
as a taster for the future series - The police dont get the Gold back, and as in the Gt Train Robbery, the robbers dont think their share is fair and shoot each other. This has happened in the Brinksmat robbery.
