I have seen that taking tablets of high grade epa fish oil can have positive effects upon the mental wellbeing of people. Can anyone support this through their experience they have had with this. I am looking to use this to help lift me out of depressive feelings. TIA

Codswallop....Probably about as true as eating Shredded Wheat stops you having heart attack
Question Author
hum ok then but i am still of the thinking that it would not do me any harm to take these tablets i have bought?
EPA has a number of benefits. The Bertie Wooster cracks about Jeeves eating loads of fish for the brain may be more than humourous.

I take EPA daily.

Another thing you could try is St. John's Wort if you are mildly to moderately depressed. It works well.

Both are good value in ASDA.

Question Author
oh thanks for that didnt know you could buy things like that in adsa! never properly tried st johns wort not sure about whether it does much good as tried it for a while
Yes steve208, it does work. It may be a panacea effect, but so what if you feel better ! Give it a few weeks though.

It may lift 'the blues' but not severe depression.
I take 1 x Omega 3 Fish Oil Capsule per day - as do other members of my family, so I would hope they do some good!

I wouldn't bother buying brand named ones though, as they are very expensive. We buy ours from a shop called 'Savers Health & Beauty' & a tub of 90 capsules costs 3.75 (I remember that 'cos I've just looked on a receipt from a top up I bought only this afternoon)!

Ingredients: Fish Body Oils, Gelatin & Glycerol BP

Each Capsule contains: Pure Fish Oil 1000mg,
of which:
Omega 3 Fatty Acids -340mg
EPA 18%
DHA 12%

Hope that helps!

P.S. If you do have a 'Savers' near you, the capsules come in a blue & white tub, with a dark blue lid, with 'Valupak' written on the front.

Back again Steve - I don't think Fish Oils will help you if you're feeling down & you must be if you're seeing a Councellor.

Perhaps you should make another appointment to see your GP, who should be able to offer you more professional advice.

Wishing you all the the very best.

i think i need to stay off the alcohol - i dont drink much but even a little can affect me for days.

eat more healthly and exercise 3 or four times a weeks - i just cant get myself started on it as i feel so low all the time. and i feel worse at work because i have to put up a front to look like im ok.
Another thought, it helps me to get out into the countryside, away from all the noise. I don't know where you live and all that, but it's worth a try. Just the few sounds of not a lot going on, very therapeutic.
Question Author
hum yes i do try to get out side when i can and there are some nice country areas near to me.
