"Edge To Edge Printing" Samsung Printer

Further to my question yesterday, I've created the image I need to use as part of a letterhead. The image will sit on the right hand side of the page at the top .

However, my Samsung CLX series laser printer is currently not printing to the edge of the page. There is a 5mm gap at the top of the page and the same on the right hand side that I can't find a way to eliminate. I need to print the image edge to edge so to speak and I've no idea what to look for in the settings of my printer to remove the unprinted margin on the top and the right. When I resite the image directly over the top and side edge, the printer still insists on putting a unprinted margin in!

Can someone help me out please? I understand not everyone will have experience ov this make and model of printer so some general advice on what I need to look for in printer settings would be of great value. Thank you.

Perhaps it's not the printer but instead is your document settings. What program have you used to create your document?

Try this:

Go to File > Print (or press Ctrl+P) as normal.

Check that the paper size is set to 'A4'.

Below where you see 'Orientation', in the dialogue box that appears, there's a drop-down menu. Click on it to access it. Select 'Layout' and then uncheck the 'Border' option if it's currently enabled.

Not all printers have edge to edge/borderless capabilities.

Check the spec of your printer to see if it can.

Buenchico, sorry but options you describe don't exist in the settings of the printer. It's a Samsung CLX 6260FW.

The link you've provided doesn't work either. I'm having great difficulty finding a manual for the printer tbh and I'd really like a downloadable version if possible.

If you are able to include custom paper size options, could you add the 5mm to the size of your paper so it thinks it is being printed on a larger sheet?

Manual for Samsung printers are available on HP's server (because it's actually HP that makes Samsung printers). However that server is incredibly slow, with each manual taking many minutes to download. My link above does work but only if you're prepared to wait a long time for the download to take place.

Now that you've told us exactly which printer you've got, I've downloaded the manual for it to my own computer. (It took about 6 minutes. I told you it was slow!). Then, to hopefully make things a bit easier for you, I've re-uploaded it to here:

(Ignore the bit about registering and signing in; you don't need to do it. Simply click the 'ordinary' Download button, i.e. the left hand one to commence the download).

I can't see any specific reference to borderless printing in that manual but you might care to check the 'Page Border' setting, to ensure that you've not got any type of border selected by default. (See pp. 311-312).

Also, as Atheist suggests, check that it's not the software that you're using that's putting the border there, rather than the printer settings. (It might help if you told us which program you're using).

I did come across something on the original printer suppliers website that had a single "dot" in a table column to the effect that it doesn't do borderless printing, but I can't corroborate this elsewhere.
I'm not certain about setting the printer paper size to a larger size than A4 as suggested by THECORBYLOON because wouldn't the ink be spread over more of the innards of the printer than it should do during the print creating a mess? Or am I worrying unnecessarily?
I'm using MS Word from the latest Office 365 (or whatever its currently called!) to try to create the letterhead right now.
I just wonder if Libre Office/Open Office etc could make a better job of this but then again if the printer won't do borderless printing, I'm up the creek without a paddle. Paint presumably wouldn't work either.

You could test my suggestion by typing a word or inserting a white square with a black outline in each corner and seeing if it prints as squares to the edges.

That way, there is a minimum amount of ink going anywhere it shouldn't.

Thank you Chris. Once again, I'm very grateful for the efforts you've made to help. I'll have to resign myself to accepting it's not possible with this printer which is disappointing as it's more than surpassed all my other needs.

Maybe it's time to buy a cheaper printer that is capable of doing the job from Printerbase.
