Varies from nothing,if they're eager to get shot of them, to hundreds if you want a pedigree. I've just bought 2 moggies at 35 each through my local trade-it.com, and they are adorable. My previous 2 kittens ,some 20 years ago cost me a bottle of wine
I didn't pay anything for my female DSH kitten, but it was from a friend of the family.
As ganesh said it varies wildly so it depends what you want. I always trust my instinct and am a firm believer in love-at-first-sight.
It is not the cost of buying them that is the problem.

It is the cost of neutering them if you dont want kittens, or an aggressive male.

Also the cost of vacinations.

Also vets fees if they get ill or get in a fight.

THAT is where the cost mounts up.
We've just bought a kitten (13 wks old) from a rescue place. She cost us 40 which, with a rescue, is more a donation than a price for the kitten. A lot of rescue places give you a voucher to help pay when you have them neutered. With regard to paying vets bills, I was on a site last night (a very well known supermarket) looking for pet insurance and for a standard policy which covers you for vets bills for surgery etc for 5.00 per month which I thought was really good and it gives you peace of mind in case anything should happen. Hope this helps.
Just got ours for 20...used to be Free To A Good Home...not anymore...nevermind...
they say that money can't buy you love - but it can.

Unfortunately cats only love you when they want something - or mines did.

He cost 10 from the cats protection branch, but I think they now want about 40. But they put a lot of money into getting the brutes back into fighting shape before they hand them over. Cats Protection is a brilliant organisation.
