I have a very sore eye and at times sight is blurry .Thought I could ask at chemist but only suggested Paracetamol for headache .I do have cataracts but waiting list is 2 years for op .Chemist said see your Doctor .Should I make an appointment at Doctor or optician or just keep the pain .
Two years for cataract operation!!! That is a long time, I waited 6 months. And immediately after I was offered the chance to do the other eye within a month.
Is that all the chemist said? Did they say see a doctor because they thought the soreness and discomfort was an infection that needed an antibiotic prescription or did they suggest anything else. I'm not medically trained at all so my answer may be invalid but a cataract might make your vision blurry but it's not supposed to make you eye sore. I would in fact contact a doctor, I wouldn't leave it - although I'm surprised the chemist didn't offer an OTC low level antibiotic eye ointment/drops.
In my part of the country I would find it easier to get an optician to look at it first. If there is anything serious they will make a referral straight to the appropriate medical dept.
Thanks .No chemist only said paracetamol which I had taken already .I asked about drops but she said no . I will phone optician Monday as closed weekend . You are told not to bother Doctors ask at chemist but every time I ask at chemist I am told to see the Doctor.

That happens to me all the time, no matter what I ask about it's always the same answer!
It is sore slightly red and this is the 3rd time it has happened eventually gets better. gives me a sore head ,Seems slightly better now but obviously something causing it ,I wear glasses,
I would suggest that it is no big deal , but as you say the presence of recurrence does cause some concern.
What would I do? Take Ibuprofen or Paracetamol for the pain and if there is no improvement contact your GP on Monday.
If your symptoms get worse, then go to A&E at a Eye Hospital if possible.
It is temporal arteritis.Used to have budgies but no problem with them .Have a visiting cat but got an air purifier with hepa filter which helps with dander .Thanks though .
