Tics In Children
7 Answers
my 11 yo has some verbal and motion tics. She might make a few noises squeaking etc, and doesnt seem to be able to control it, or she might fling her arm out several times in a row, with, again, seemingly no control over it. Personally i dont care particularly, but i do worry that she might get bullied or made fun of and would ideally like her to stop. But how?
My husband also makes odd random noises, and if he's in repose, he might make some odd head movements. Apparently he's been that way since childhood. For me, it just contributes to his essential Mrbenobs-ness

This may be a form of tourettes. Remember not everyone goes around swearing. I developed tics and a tremor and was tested for this but one of my sons has also developed a more severe case. He has vocal tics in the form of grunts but his is definitely due to him developing social anxiety in his late teens. He has learned to cope with this but it still gets worse when he is anxious or stressed. I have heard people wear an elastic band on their wrist which they snap when they feel a tic coming on. Don't know if this helps
