Lemon Trifle And Coronation Bloomer

Just back from Sainsbury’s and amongst other purchases was a coronation bloomer…wheat bread with sultanas, mango chutney and curry spice, sounds right up my street. Bet it’d make a lovely chicken sandwich.
I decided last night to have a go at a lemon trifle so bought the ingredients for that too, not following a recipe and have never made one before. Have bought a lemon Swiss roll, a jar of lemon curd, a lemon jelly, a tin of mandarin oranges, some extra special custard, cream, and ginger biscuits. Will soak the cake with limoncello, put a layer of crushed ginger biscuits somewhere, make a lemon syllabub with the cream to go on the top of it all, and finish with a sprinkling of crushed ginger biscuits. Do you think that’ll work???

You could have made the swiss roll, the custard, the lemon curd and the biscuits but I'm sure yours will work fine.

The trifle sounds lovely and light...I'd add some raspberries.
The bread is not for me...a bit too fruity.

Reminds me of Charles and Diana's wedding for which my late mother made some red, white and blue bread rolls, twists of coloured bread plaited together. No-one would eat the blue bits even though they all tasted the same!

There’s something about blue food which makes it very unappealing isn’t there, zebo? I remember a chain of bakeries doing blue bread or something, can’t remember what the occasion was, but it was a big disaster.
