Making Uniforms

Did anyone else see this fascinating programme last night?
A small company in Tottenham makes uniforms for all the forces and has been making new uniforms for 6000 personnel taking part in the coronation, including changing the insignia from E11R to C111R. The programme showed where they source the material from, how the tunics are constructed and just generally threw a new light on it all.
If you missed it I’d recommend getting it on catch up. It’s called Coronation Tailors: Fit for a King and was on BBC.

Just seen it and it's well worth a watch.

Patrick Grant got quite emotional when he handled the die used to make the Kosbies' regimental badge.

He did didn’t he Corby, I think he said his dad had died only a few months ago. He was excellent as a presenter, seemed more human somehow than when he does Sewing Bee.

Yes, I watched it and was fascinated. 140 hours of hand stitching on one tunic! Patrick got emotional because that was the die that had made tunic buttons for his grandfather and maybe, fathers tunics for their Scottish regiment. I enjoyed him as a presenter too.

bhg, I’m so glad you watched and enjoyed it :) I think a lot of people who didn’t see it would have really enjoyed it too, it’s a shame they missed it.

Thanks for the recommendation, just watching it. Amazing the amount work done by hand, it was certainly very moving when the commentator held the mould that had made the buttons for his ancestors' buttons.
