While all attention is understandably focused on this morning’s Coronation, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry this morning confirmed previous reports that Ukraine shot down a Russian hypersonic Kinzhal missile fired at Kyiv in the early hours of May 4.
This is a huge development and has far reaching consequences for how the west assesses Russia and it’s proclaimed “unstoppable deadly secret weapon”
Shot down by probably not even a state of the art Patriot missile by operatives who might even have used the thing in anger before.
Oh dear. All threats of “Russian escalation” evaporate at a stroke.

As i have said previously,Putin invaded Ukraine just as much as Hitler did when he invaded Russia in 1941.Hitler thought that it would be a two month walkover,Putin thought it would be a two month walkover when he invaded Ukraine.Neither were the full shilling.The fascist Hitler killed himself,will the fascist Putin do the same when he realises the Ukrainian people will be victorious against his bunch of Nazis?.

just by circling the airfields and waiting for them to land

I wonder how the Ukrainians took down something at 7200 mph....Presumably it has been thought about for along time

I’m not an expert but I think taking out a ballistic missile on reentry even at Mach 10 would be within the capabilities of at least one variant of the Patriot, which can zap nuclear warheads at a safe height.
The Kinzhal is more than likely nowhere near as “hypersonic” as claimed. It’s an Iskander on speed in all probability.
It doesn’t stop them using it in areas not covered by ABMs but it almost certainly greatly reduces the likelihood of a successful nuclear strike by Russia on the west.
Assuming their warheads even work.
