During clearing out of my late brothers house I have found a lot of english coins.
1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p etc . I have sorted them into bags. I’d say half of them are dated 1947 which was the year of his birth. I reckon there is about £80 worth.
I don’t know what to do with them, any help would be appreciated.

This is one company that will pay you for at least some of them:

Some (repeat some)banks will take pre-decimal coins and give you face value decimal money in return. Worth enquiring locally.
You mention 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p etc. but you say many are 1947. Would they therefore be 1d, 6d, 1s etc? Is this £80 worth of pre decimal coins or are some of them current coins?

If you've really got 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p coins from 1947, it'll be a miracle! We didn't use decimal currency until 1971 ;-)

There are plenty of people who try to sell old coins on eBay, e.g.

but that doesn't necessarily mean that there are any buyers for their offers. I'd be tempted to offer the whole lot in a single eBay auction sale, with a starting price of around their total face value.

However what I think that I'd actually end up doing is donating them to the RNIB:

There is a mixture of old and new coins.
Well new coins can be changed up at the bank or at the coin machine in the lobby of certain supermarkets.

^^^ Coinstar take 10.9% (+25p) of your money!
The 5p, 10p and 50p coins are probably the old size ones, so may not be legal tender.
It might be worth asking your local auction house if they think that it's worth you trying to sell them there:

Used this lot in the past, if it's worthless they'll tell you and return it to you if you want.
