Energy Prices
19 Answers
Just received an e-mail from Scottish Gas to let me know that energy rates will be going down from July. Nice to have something to balance the increase in the price of my beans - two weeks ago a small tin cost 50p - today they had shot up to 75p!

I like the Morrison's one because the beans are packed right to the top of the tin and the sauce is lovely.
However, if you really want Branston's, they're £3.70 for 6 in Sainsbury's (= 62p per can) or £4.00 in B&M and Iceland (= 67p per can).
However if you shop online with Bother (where you only need to spend £40 on your groceries to get free delivery on a 'next weekday' basis), they're just £2.78 (= 46p per can).

Maggie, I think I might understand why you buy the small tin, but it works out so much more expensive than buying a large tin and splitting it between 2 days. I understand if you don't want to have beans for 2 days on the run, but even if you throw half a tin away, it still works out cheaper.

Barsel, I prefer Asda but have a Lidl and a Home Bargains quite close too. Tesco and B&M 10 mins away but would have a bit of a drive for Morrisons or Sainsbury's. I buy the small tin because it is the perfect size for a baked potato but I suppose I could split a large tin and keep half in the fridge.
Buy the UT size and get a can cover (they are usually sold for pet food but work fine on all tins).
We do this for both Beans and tomatoes. Keep easily for a week if you wipe the juice from the rim (carefully as its sharp) with a piece of kitchen roll. And of course dont double dip to contaminate the item.
