why have the letters f & j on mac keyboard have small raised area.

Its for people who can type without looking, its like their starting place or something. I believe those are the keys that your index fingers start on.

There is also a raised dot on the 5 of the number keypad.

yeah the 5 on most keypads or pads on most numerical pads (ie atm machine) have either a raised or indented part to them, i always figured it was to help the blind or partially sighted
