As Kyiv endures its 17th drone and missile attack this month.
It’s unclear where the drones have come from or where there any have hit their target.
For whatever reason, unlike in Kyiv, there was no air raid warning

Ukraine has home-made drones that easily have the range to reach Moscow: as for “what air defence doing?” **** knows. Their air defences aren’t great it seems.
The least likely thing I think is in-house insurgents

**Russian air defenses stopped eight drones converging on Moscow, officials said Tuesday, in an attack that authorities blamed on Ukraine,**
Other than the word of the 'officials' (who they?) we have no way of corroborating the veracity of that statement, there is also an archive (?) picture of someone with blood on their face to add drama.
This could simply be a ruse, a pathetic attempt to justify continuing violence against Kyiy & Ukraine --- just sayin'.

They don’t need any justification.
The idea it was some sort of self-inflicted wound is tempting and may be correct, but they act like the hard done-by victims as it is. They don’t need to put themselves through this.
As for the state of the conflict - it is about to change: it’s a false stalemate. A phony war. Ukraine is about to unleash hell on the invaders.
Soon Ukraine will have F16s, which will likely initially be used as air defence deep in country while ground based air defence assets such as patriot and Iris T. Iron Dome also maybe will be moved to nearer the front line. If and when that happens, Russian planes will effectively be interdicted from flying within 100km of Ukrainian airspace effectively creating a no fly zone over the country.
Of course that won’t stop long range strategic bombers or SLCM and SLBM from the Black Sea, but it will give Ukraine a huge advantage in tactical, combined arms warfare on the ground

Longer term, having been defeated militarily, it’s likely Russia may adopt or rather continue its terrorist tactics from outside - out of spite as much as anything but then it will be a case of bolstering Ukraine’s air defences to make it a pointless exercise. It’s estimated about 4.1 per cent of Russia’s GDP is going on military industrial production and for a while their vast resources may be a factor but in essence without the proper strategies, training and personnel - in which so far they have shown themselves to be way lacking - it is ultimately an exercise in junk metal production
