Did anyone watch this? Supposedly a "grilling" for the CEO, Carolyn McCall. Once the Chair brought in other MPs to ask questions there seemed to be a deal of apathy with MPs questioning why they were there. Then John Nicholson (SNP) had his time and spoke up about several employees of ITV, past and present, who had contacted him about bullying and toxic culture. Suddenly the heat was turned up to more of a "stir frying".

It was a refreshing change to hear an MP do the job they are voted in for and paid for, well done Mr. Nicholson! He certainly ruffled the CEO.

I think that they should forget about Philip S and look at the organisation as a whole.

They need to work out how/why the bullying has happened and has continued to happen. This type of toxic workplace should be relegated to the distant past and the unions should have been doing whatever it is they do.

i still dont really understand why MPs have to concern themselves with this? is ITV funded by us as taxpayers? if soi want fewer ads please!

wolf, when the Chair wound up the 2 hour session saying it had been about ITV not Schofield. Immediately the CEO said "No, it is not about ITV, it is about Philip Schofield!" What a nerve she displayed.

bednobs, because of low advertising on ITV throughout lockdown and the investment in itvx the shareholders are not going to receive much dividend. I don't think you will get your wish granted.
I agree with bednobs, I can't see why the departure of an ITV breakfast host is any of MPs' business. They should get back to interfering with the BBC.
I too agree with bednobs.

We have enough problems without MP's involving themselves in a private corporation.
I guess they were participating in their own time.
Also agree with bednobs.
I was mildly astounded that this was not only being done but that it was getting live TV coverage
"Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport."
Was Dorries, now Donelan. The most recent seven were all in post for a year, except for Hancock who came and went in 2018. Rumour has it that Dorries only took the job after Johnson had suggested adding the word "digital" to the name of the post.
If there is a SoS for DCMS+, then it seems that the govt does like to justify its existence by giving them some "kangaroo court" powers as a sweetener.
