We had torrential rain last night. Garden definitely needed it but my lovely lupins and been flattened. Job for today, if it stays dry, is to cut them down and hope some may spring back to life.

Rain here too overnight but no thunder/lightning. Does play havoc with the tall plants but lupins are pretty sturdy and hope they recover.
We had a thunderstorm & torrential rain middle of sat night, hot all day Sunday then rained all sun eve, tho not too heavy. Hot again all day today! My tall lilies have been flattened a bit.
torrential dryness here all day.
I think you may be lucky maggiebee, you are even further north than I am so plants are (or should be) correspondingly later. Our village show is 20th-ish August. My lovely lupins last year had all but vanished by July (similar sort of storm). I cut them back & had enough lovely spikes to win a 3rd prize! :)
We were promised thunderstorms, but had a light shower.
Rain rarely gets into my balcony, it does however get pretty windy so tall stuff can get a bit of windburn, and anything above 18 inches tends to get flattened without good staking.
