My computer can read CD & DVD Rom's, but cannot open blank Cd's. A message comes up with a loud beep. Could there be something wrong with the hard disk drive?
If it's only happening in one account it may be a setting's problem with that account.. Who set up the account, and has anyone messed with it since it was setup?
If your comfortable using the registry it may be worth checking the following setting..
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer .. There may be a key called 'NoCDBurning' a value of '0' will ALLOW CD writing in XP, anything else will disable it.
It is the administrator account. It is rarley used as it is quite slow for internet access. I don't think there could be a problem with the settings as nobody ever uses that account much. I thought it might be a good idea to remove photos from the machine onto a disk. As it might seed up the computer a bit.
Mabey there is some type of maleware on a registery key.
I am not affraid to have a look, but I would not have to much experance as too what I should be looking for.
Where would I look up (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi on\Policies\ )?
Would I find it in a search??
