//Cranachan pronounced 'Kran-e-ken' is a popular. Scottish dessert created from a mixture of whipped. cream, honey and fresh raspberries, with toasted. oatmeal soaked overnight in (of course!) a drop or two.//

thanks, back to the drawing board then lol x:-)
Love Cranachan, we always have it at Christmas instead of a trifle.
Thank you mallyh, I still think that is the correct answer, it does sound so like it
We love it too, maggie, but need tips for toasting the oatmeal. How do you do it?
If Auchtermuchty has shown us anything it's that the English will call it kranakan and nothing will change that.

See also lock and ock aye. :-)
Up here in Aberdeen it has always been called"kranna-han".
I've always heard it as kranny (to rhyme with granny) kin (as in next of kin. Maybe that's my hearing though.
Thanks to my Scottish Mum & that side of the family, I can pronounce it (and 'loch' etc.), but I'm not sure how to spell it phonetically, sorry.
We had it for dessert at our wedding.
