Baked a lovely light fruit cake, left it cool. No idea where they came from but it was crawling with little minute ants half and hour later.

Where have they been lurking? Cake number two is now in the oven, worktop bleached to within an inch of its life, ant spray bought.

I didn't swear. How have you wasted your time today?

Thanks Margo - I will check Amazon out later.
I don't do much baking but if I do the baked stuff goes in the second oven...the one that's not been used.
Yes the link works - Thanks - I,ll look later as off to make dinner before hubby gets in.
I know I'm asking for trouble saying this but I would just have blown the 'ants' off and eaten the cake. Noone would have been any the wiser and they aren't like flies.

The cake was black with ants, not the odd one or two or three dozen.

I will get some mesh umbrella food covers
It's lucky you checked on it Barry. Enough ants would have been able to haul it away.:-)

What a thought
Anyway, I've wasted my time on Answerbank today. Too much screen time.
Wasted some time having grabbed mug & turned to head for kitchen for another coffee, only for remaining contents of "empty" mug to travel in an arc onto the side of the sofa & the carpet.

Not the first time, probably not the last. Sigh.
