The Council have place No Parking cones either side of a road near me. I understand they can be put in place for temporary events but these have now been there for over a month.
What is the legal position if I ignore the cones and park on the verge (without creating a hazard)?

Your car gets damaged by a council mower?
You upset the local residents by spoiling the grass verges and parking in their roads?

To clarify - this is a country road, no residents and rarely mown. In fact the cones are now scarcely visible in the grass.
Either ask the council what they are doing - they have, maybe, forgotten where they were.

Or 'disappear' them!

I would just email the council.
I would give the council a ring.
