Has anyone been unable to pay such charges by reason of not having a smart phone? I had a hospital appointment recently and the car park no longer accepts cash payments but asks drivers to download the app. It was a very hot day and there was a long, slow-moving queue of folk waiting to pay by card at the only pay point. Being in no fit state to wait all that time in a high temperature I just drove out. The money for parking goes directly to the hospital. I have no intention of getting a smart phone to pay such fees, so I will write to the hospital and enclose a cheque for the amount owed :)

Currently, I read recently, there are 33 different car parking apps a driver would have to use on their smart phone depending where they wish to park. Another drive towards a cashless society. :-(
This form of Discrimination needs to be outlawed, but with the stranglehold the Marketing Lobby has on this country I can't see it happening. Don't bother to vote at the next GE, the Global Corporates already run the country and its MPs.

Cheers, retro. I buy an annual car park ticket for local areas I shop at in my district council and keep a supply of coins for other car parks which are usually at hospitals! The joys of growing old and ill-health...
Do you have a Blue Badge or eligible for one?. The hospitals in our trust are free for Badge holders.

Not yet, OH does, but I am honesty personified!
We don't have such barbaric stuff up here.

Who do they think they are? Airports?

Possibly, I've seen their helly pad.
I bought a coffee this morning where they did not accept cash. Luckily I had a card with me, but I won't be going there again.
The old, the poor and the visitor. Imagine you were a foreign visitor, travelling the UK on a fly-drive holiday. What a miserable experience you'll have ...
sadly though by driving out they'll send you a parking charge notice. I doubt you'll get the chance to send them a cheque. I have sympathy but by parking there you are deemed to accept the Ts and Cs. They'll probably ask for £100 reduced to £60 if you pay up within 14 days. let us know what happens.

I have sent my cheque for £2.70 already, TTT. No need for you to seem gleeful about a possible fine, I guess you will always think of TCL when you see my name now ;)
I'm not gleeful, just telling you how these firms work. Err indoors got stuck with one recently and these parking firms are totally focused on getting dosh out of you, nothing else matters.
