Good evening, I’m seeking confirmation for the following and parsing where possible. Many thanks in advance!

(Clues are in alphabetical order of their solutions, which must be entered in the grid, jigsaw-wise, as they will fit. A word of at least two letters must be removed from each clue (always leaving real words) before solving. When the clues are arranged in grid order, the removed words produce a list that reveals the theme of the puzzle and something about the grid.)

( 1 ) Father, I felt strange ecstasy in Heaven, perhaps (9) : HEREAFTER
( 2 ) Sky lambasted stance about death rising (9) : SECTARIAN
( 3 ) Inspiring problem in maths getting scatterbrained answer (6) : ASTHMA
( 4 ) Cast a lot of doubt around middle of lunar eclipse in spring (5) : BELIE
( 5 ) End any race started with faulty timer (11) REACTIONARY
( 6 )Naming two to collect evidence of crash flying lesson left (11) : CLASSIFYING
( 7 ) Like play about author? (8) ASCRIBE
(8 ) Underworld money supply left at US offensive (11)
( 9)Co-ordinators of voluntary movements finance the rebel landowners partly (9)

Many thanks, JJ109,for the hints! I think I must have gone astray somewhere because I’m not getting these to fit in my grid. Could you let me know where they each fit in the grid so that I may correct what I have?
(1 ) Damaged tome’s hard cover ( 6 )
(2) Support place opening in Great Yarmouth( 6 )
(3 ) Contracted vessel to protect people’s food run ( 5 ) S?S??
( 4 ) Naked brigand caught stabbing copper perhaps using regular beat? (8 ) : ??T?I?A?
Matakari, in a bid to get you moving again...
Your 1 is at 5 A, your 4 is 7 D.

Question Author
Thanks, NACW, they worked fine. This is the final straw, hope it doesn’t break the camel’s back! These two are clashing miserably, probably badly placed in the grid?

(2) Support place opening in (Great ) Yarmouth( 6 ) ???D?E ( BRIDGE? )
(3 ) Contracted vessel to protect people’s food run ( 5 ) S?S?? ( SUSHI? )

This one seems to be in the right place?
(5 ) Characterise part of beloved in epic tale ( 6 ) STEADY?
The alphabetical sequence which is quite useful... does that work for Characterise....? (PS It's hidden in the ckue)
And can Support place... start with B?

PS I am multi-tasking, these quick replies are aimed at getting you firmly back on the right track!

I must have the incorrect grid entries for the following, then, or
some of the crossers are incorrect?
Where are these in the grid? Thanks!

(2) Support place opening in (Great ) Yarmouth( 6 ) ???D?E
(3 ) Contracted vessel to protect people’s food run ( 5 ) S?S??
(5 ) Characterise part of beloved in epic tale ( 6 ) S?E?D?
Yes, SUSHI - and yes, STEADY, but not for that clue (it's the answer to your first clue)
'place' = STEAD + 'opening in' Y(armouth).
SUSHI - 'contracted vessel' = SHI(p) and 'people' = US.
Matakari, glad you are being given the final few pointers. I'm still puzzling over you continuing to disregard the alphabetical stuff, which you'd said earlier was 'very useful'. It should have been a great help when you got into such a muddle!

Amazing parsing, ProfessorMaisie, and thanks for setting me straight!
Thanks, too, NACW, for this last one, you say hidden in the clue! Well,
it's really hidden because I cannot find it... Another hint to finish this one
as i look forward to a more soothing Spectator offering tomorrow - one more Doc, perhaps!
Characterise part of beloved in epic tale (6 ) ?I?D?E
Think you've given us the wrong letter formation.

Straight forward spot in the clue as NaC says
Thanks, Matakari, I'm scared to ask - are you remembering that a word (of two or more letters) is to be removed from the clue...
Matakari, yes, you've obviously gone wrong somewhere (...) as that is the pattern for another clue.
The answer to the clue you're trying to solve is at 1d, Matakari - that pattern _i_d_e is for 'Delicate operation limits to download in data collection'.
7 can't be ascribe as thats only 7 not 8... recreate looks better ( as in recreation/ play)

Thanks, ProfessorMaisie, I'll put this down for a while and review my answers later to see where I went wrong. Off to the Spectator with La Jerezana!
Question Author
Good morning, completed in record time, a gentle and very enjoyable Spectator offering by La Jerezana. A much friendlier bit of entertainment than the Enigmatic, and Stick Insect’s “Gravest”!

Now, back to the Genius to complete my last niggling clue. My review of the completed answers suggests that this last answer must begin with E or F. Thanks in advance for your hints!

20d Delicate operation limits to download in data collection ( 6 ) ?I?d?E
Starts with F (you could play a tune on it).
Question Author
Gracious thanks, ProfessorMaisie, I had that in mind all along, but just couldn't parse it. Going on to some chemistry puzzles while looking out for the next Enigmatic, hoping it will be a friendly one.
If you do decide to stick it out with Stick Insect, Matakari - use the whole of the designation (not just the number) for the endgame's cryptic clue (it's much more fun than chemistry if you ask me}.
