Are Electric Vehicles Any More Environmentally Friendly Than I C E Ones?

Electricity is still generated by fossil fuels and then there is the huge amount of pollution in the manufacturing process etc.Then of course there is the huge problem with them spontaneously combusting. I sometimes wonder if this obsession with EVs is like the Emperor's new clothes. Discuss.

" - yes non electric cars do catch fire but not spontaneously and they are not impossible to extinguish. A ferry full of ICE cars would have no fuel in them and would not catch fire, well not by the cars anyway. Did you read about the Rimac fire? It burned for days and could not be extinguished by any normal means. But frankly that's least of their problems.
