i went to see it yesterday.
the plot is that the babrbies and kens live in barbieland, a matriarchal society where women do everything and men are just arm candy and stuff. Our barbie starts getting cellulite and thoughts about death, so she goes to our world (with ken) to find the person playing with her who is giving her these thoughts. She had assumed that the real world women would be at the top because their barbies had taught them womwn can be whatever they want. She and ken find thats not the case. He goes back and takes patriarchy to barbie land (kenland) shegoes back and re-awakens the barbies to become more than beer bringing, foot massaging flunkies to the kens. Harmny is restored, and barbies and kens get some equal footing

people are raving about it. I failed to find it wonderful unfortunately, as did my 11 year old.
i struggled to work out who exactly it was aimed at - there were some big notions that would i think be difficult for young teens to grasp, but dressed up in a way that older people would find nauseating.
perhaps it's the perfect film for older teens and yound adults (neither of which we were)
