How Can I Add Contacts In A Whatsapp Group Chat Without Having To Send An Invite?

I’ve created a WhatsApp group and when I try to add people it comes up saying ‘send an invite’, how can I just add people in the group so they’re automatically in the group without having to send an invite?

Edit- reason being is because I can add other people by just selecting their name and it automatically adds them in but for one person it says I have to send an invite

Have you tried adding the contact to your address book (not the whatsapp one).
I find once they're in the address book you can add them.

Sharon- yes he is in my address book but whenever I go to ‘add participant’ then select his name and click add, it comes up saying it can’t add him and you must send him a private link, but other people it just adds them in the group when I click add

Has he used privacy settings on whatsapp to stop him being added to a group without his agreement, which means he needs an invite which he can accept if he wishes to?

Preserverer- yes he can but we was wondering why he had to accept when the others didn’t

How does he turn them settings off so I can tell him? Obviously he’s unaware he has that setting on

On my WhatsApp under privacy, groups, it just says allow to add me to groups and then it says ‘everyone’ ‘my contacts’ my contacts except…’, I am his contact though

Can you not just send the invite?

Corbyloon- yes I already have but he is asking how does he change the setting as he wasn’t aware it was like that
