When you heard the Queen died?
I was in a the cinema watching Elvis the Movie, it came up on the screen and the film was paused, it’s much like where were you when Elvis died,JFk and Freddie Mercury ,sadly I can’t remember where I was when John Lennon died

I was at home watching the news but figured she'd died a few hours earlier, like others have said.

Like SharonA, I was also on the way to the airport when I heard about Princess Diana, but it was Manchester Airport.

They were sad events but I never felt any sort of outpouring of grief, or any of the other gubbins that was spouted by people. No queueing to see the Queen lying in state, although just by coincidence, we were in London at the time visiting friends in Greenwich. That was a bit disruptive for us. How dare Her Maj cause such trouble. The queues weren't as long as was made out folks. Well they were, but if people had queued more orderly they would only have been half of what was said. They were well spread out. But it's good for media if they say the queue went for miles.

When the queen died I was at home watching for news.

When Diana died I was in Africa.

I was watching events on television as it seemed the Queen didn't have long left. I don't remember when any of the others mentioned died but was in the laundry where I worked at the time, when Robert Kennedy's death was announced. Isn't the memory a funny thing?

I had just come round in the in the CCU in St Thomas Hospital Liverpool after an 8 hour Fevar op. As I woke the first thing the nurse said is, the Queen is dead. I was lucky not to be.

I remember very well where I was when JFK died.
My wedding was the following day,so last minute
Checks on arrangements etc.

Diana in the Netherlands and on the radio, BBC4 , at 7am local time on the Saturday, 6 back here....called my mother and eldest sister.

I was in Kenya when Diana died - I watched the early morning news with disbelief. Despite the hotel being full of people of all nationalities, the restaurant that morning was silent during breakfast. No one spoke and when her funeral was broadcast, just two people stayed lounging around the pool. Again silence.

Our car was stopped at a road block just after she died and once the rather serious looking policeman realised we were English, instead of demanding passports etc., he simply said 'I am sorry for your princess' - and waved us on.

International mourning? I don't know, but the effect was palpable. Quite extraordinary.

I’d been at a meeting and was driving home when I heard. I’d just pulled up to board a small ferry and turned the radio on while I waited.
