And for people who say that having a cake with your colleagues was OK, well that didn't apply to anyone else. You couldn't meet up with your colleagues after work. You did your job, went home and didn't mix with anyone else. Essential work only then isolation.

2020 was a good summer and I hosted, and went to, a number of BBQs, I got empty trains to meet up with mates for drinks in their gardens, had dinner parties…

In a pandemic some folk do die. Isn't avoidable. Tends to be fewer if one doesn't release them from hospital to go back, still infected to their retirement care home.
